A Special Talk on the Constitution Day organized at RGU
Rono Hills 26 Nov 2022: A special (online) lecture on the ‘History of the Constituent Assembly’ was jointly organized by Department of History and Institute of Distance Education, Rajiv Gandhi University (IDE, RGU) on the 26th of November 2022.. Through this event the University fraternity joined the nation to commemorate the Constitution of India as a Jan Bhagidar. The theme of this year’s celebration was “India- the mother of Democracy”. Ms. Chathiam Lowang, faculty, IDE, RGU, welcomed the audience to this online meet.
Prof. S. N. Singh, Department of History, RGU enlightened the audience on this occasion. He spoke on “History of the Constituent Assembly”. He began his lecture by giving a historical account of the development of the constituent assembly. He divided this phenomenon into three parts. These were the contexts of the colonial rule, Muslim League and partition of the country. He then talked about the partition of India and the consequent issues that led to a sizeable impact on the development of the Indian constitution as well as the assembly. With the background done, he delved into the details of the development of the Indian Constituent Assembly.
